Rotary Youth Exchange Program

Applying for 2020-2021 school year abroad

Important Dates:
NOTE: The Wooster Rotary Club welcomes your interest for the 2020-21 year abroad program. If interested in applying for a year abroad, please contact Rotary District 6650 Youth Exchange Co-Chair, Brent Rice -
Rotary International has restarted the storied youth exchange program and the Wooster Rotary club is actively seeking applications for students ages 15-19 interested in participating in the 2023-24 academic year.  Students spend 10 months abroad cultivating language and cultural skills by living with host families and attending local high school. Prior knowledge of the language of the host country is not required, though helpful.
The Wooster Rotary club invites students and families in the Wooster City, Triway, Northwestern, Smithville, Norwayne and Central Christian school districts to attend an information session at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 18 in APEX in the lower level of the Gault Library (1140 Beall Ave.) on the College of Wooster campus.  Members of the Rotary Youth Exchange Committee will provide details on the scope and requirements of the program, approximate costs, and countries with which exchanges are most common.  Information on serving as a host family will also be shared.
If interested but are unable to attend, please contact Rotary District 6650 Youth Exchange Co-Chair, Brent Rice -

Every year more than 7000 students learn about the world in a unique manner. Instead of studying the culture, history and accomplishments of a society in school, they immerse themselves in the day-to-day life of the country. They live the culture and gain a deeper understanding of both themselves and the world.
As these young people become adults, many become leaders in their communities and bring the benefits of their world-view to these positions. As a result the Rotary Exchange program is a powerful force in the promotion of tolerance and peace throughout the world.
Rotary Youth Exchange Program is open to any student with good character and academic performance. Rotary seeks mature students in good academic standing who are involved in their school and community. Most students choose to participate after graduation although the exchange program is open to students between the age of 15 and 18½ at the time of exchange (generally mid-August). The exchange program is for one full year.
